1961 Bel Air Wildfire

On the morning of November 6, 1961 one of the worst structure wildfires began in the hills of Sherman Oaks near Mulholland Drive.  The fire quickly jumped across Mulholland Drive and powered by high Santa Ana winds burned South through the Stone Canyon Reservoir area and into Bel Air and Brentwood.  The 3 day fire storm destroyed 495 homes over a 6,000 acre area.  Don't you think this could happen again with public access in the Stone Canyon Area?  Follow the 2 links below for more detailed specifics on this historic fire.
